We took my mom to the hospital with high ketones (something we're used to as a family since she has type one diabetes) she came out being diagnosed with having had a heart attack...

Genuine question: when Dr Mike does these videos talking about spefic patients is he breaking HIPPA laws or does would it only apply if he used names of patients?? Is consent from the patient needed for him to discuss their appointment on the channel??

The past half year I felt pain in my chest. It didn’t happend a lot, two times a week or something, but it made me a little worried. It does happen sometimes during sports but most of the time it was there when i was just watching Netflix. I didn’t go to a Docter becouse I though it wasn’t That big of a deal. The pain feels like if you have eaten before you run and your sides hurts. Sometimes I feel it right and sometimes I feel it left. I hope it isn’t something to worry about.
Sorry for my English, I’m Dutch and i’m still learning. I like your videos especially the meme videos:) I hoop you see it!

I'm glad about my Doctor, she just did a full health exam on me 2 weeks ago, because I had a lot of stress and stuff happening in my life. She took over an hour of her time to talk to me, and asked if everything was going better. I had an long-term sphygmomanometer, because I had high blood pressure when she checked, but everything was fine in the End.
I mean a few months back when my Dad died, she even took the time to phone ma AFTER work, to check in on me if everything was ok.

I wish you were my GP; I’ve have hypothyroidism and it *effects everything*.

Early menopause? Because of hypothyroidism. High cholesterol? **Because of the early menopause because of the hypothyroidism. Tired even with adequate rest? Hypothyroidism and early onset menopause hot flashes. Achy joints? Hypothyroidism and menopause from hypothyroidism. Can’t poop? Ever? Even eating a whole food focused diet and drinking massive amounts of water? Even if you take pharmaceuticals for it? Hypothyroidism. Also, not pooping can contribute to high cholesterol because of hypothyroidism.

It goes on and on... I was diagnosed with it at the end of my first trimester, and guess what? My son has high functioning autism (high IQ, low social skills) that was possibly because of my undiagnosed hypothyroidism. I demanded a test (and was informed that I was crazy because women with it “can’t get pregnant”. Yes, really) and was immediately put on 75mcg synthroid, but it was too late for the baby. Oh well, lulz 🤷‍♀️

As a woman, I have to be *VERY* careful or I’ll be labeled a whiny hypochondriac and not taken seriously, but this radiates to every aspect of my life, including influencing my chances of ending up diabetic and having heart disease (both run heavily in my family because yup, we’re ALL hypothyroid). My mother is now post stroke after having a quintuple bypass from undiagnosed diabetes (she figured it out after going into a semi diabetic coma state and being rushed to the ER. They asked when she had her first heart attack... she didn’t know she’d had one and found out she’d had TWO by that point) FROM HAVING HYPOTHYROIDISM. It’s a serious disease.

So thank you for paying attention and don’t ever change that attitude.

Hi Dr.Mike. What if your heart beats very fast and actually removes most/all of the blood out of the heart? This is my issue, and no one ever talks about it. About 95% EF when I perform exercise or moderate tasks. BP usually normal or low, high diastolic. I wish more people talk about this because I don't have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart failure. I am only 29, and I have been put on beta blockers. Just trying to figure out why my body hates me lol

I'm a Charge Nurse at a family medicine clinic and have an amazing group of doctors, nurses, and medical assistance. This story sounds just like what we see in our clinic. Yeah they come in with one thing, but often have 5 or 6 other things going on at once. You may have to abandon the reason for their visit to focus on the most detrimental of their issues.

So they discharge the guy after an ST elevation MI? It would be interesting to hear you talk about how insurance reimbursement for medical care has changed in the past 12 years. When hospitals & medical providers or reimbursed as fee-for-service our biggest concern was that providers would order too many procedures did increase the amount of money they made. Now, the goal is to get the patient out of the hospital before you spend a little bit of money you're given for that complaint. If a patient rebounds and returns to the hospital after discharge the hospital is reimbursed at a lower rate and can be fined. Great plan?

Take it from someone who has a syndrome that affects my full body, it's not always just one thing. I went into the ER because of a really bad pots flair before it was diagnosed, and three months later ended up getting diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Gastroparesis, and POTS. EDS has an average of 15-30 years to get diagnosed, GP has an average of 1-5 years, and POTS has an average of 10-15 years. I got them diagnosed within 3 years of actively searching for answers, and thanks to an amazing doctor that didn't just call me crazy, and looked at my body as a whole, basically gave the answer as to why my family is so sick.
